Clinical Coordinator

Reports To: Clinical Director
Collaborates Closely With: All employees in the EMS and FRO Departments
Supervises: None

Position Summary

This position is responsible for instructing various classes as offered by Hays County ESD 9 EMS System. Courses taught may include continuing education courses for system providers including first responder organizations, initial education classes, and community education classes offered by the community outreach program. This position may also assist in developing education programs and class schedules for the system in coordination with the Clinical Director ensuring compliance with all applicable rules, regulations, and laws including (but not limited to) the Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) and National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) regulations and requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Works with the Clinical Director to assist in the development of clinical education curriculum and training programs for personnel, including the delivery of standardized courses. Develops class schedules for multiple offerings of EMS continuing education classes for EMS System providers and First Responder Organization personnel.

  • Manages and oversees compliance with personnel EMS certifications and credentialing requirements while coordinating with the Clinical Director.

  • Reviews system patient care documentation for performance trends and identifies areas of system improvement in conjunction with EMS field training officers and the Clinical Director.
  •    
  • Assists in maintaining comprehensive student records for all initial and continuing education classes in accordance with appropriate record-keeping regulations as required by TDSHS.

  • Assists with instructing community or agency outreach classes.
  •    
  • Maintains, stores, and operates equipment used for psychomotor or simulation training.
  •    
  • Assists with training newly hired employees during EMS orientation and upgrade academies.
  •    
  • Ensures constant compliance with all EMS Operations according to the Hays County ESD 9 Standard Operating Procedures, Hays County ESD 9 Standard Medical Operating Protocols, Hays County ESD 9 Personnel Manual, and the rules, regulations, and protocols of the Capital Area of Texas Regional Advisory Council (CATRAC) and the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS).

  • Attends meetings as required.
  •    
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Clinical Director.

Required Qualifications

  • Texas EMS certification at Paramedic level (required).
  •    
  • Minimum of one (1) year of clinical education EMS experience.
  •    
  • Minimum of three (3) years as a field Paramedic.
  •    
  • Experience in clinical QA/QI program.
  •    
  • Valid Texas driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  •    
  • Must not appear on the LEIE (List of Excluded Individuals/Entities).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in EMS, Nursing, or Health Sciences.
  •    
  • Advanced EMS board certification (IBSC FP-C or CCP-C).
  •    
  • Instructor certification (e.g., AHA, NAEMT, or Texas EMS Coordinator).
  •    
  • Experience developing adult learning curriculum or formalized training programs.
  •    
  • Experience with EMS clinical guidelines development or conducting clinical reviews.
  •    
  • Familiarity with data analytics and EMS QA/QI software systems.

  • Mix of office, classroom, and field-based environments.

  • Occasional after-hours work for incident reviews, education events, or case follow-up.

Salary and Benefits

 

  • Hourly: $45.83/hr ($95,326.40)
  •    
  • Retirement:Participation in the Texas County and District Retirement System (TCDRS) - 2.5:1 Match
